The wisteria has lost its foliage and the jacaranda is in the process of losing its. The chaotic frame of the wisteria is revealed hanging over, weaving through the branches of its host. My eye wants to find some sort of order or logic to it but there is none other than a plant logic i.e. sun seeking, that is not for me to truly understand.
This is a special time of year for the plants below this pair, particularly as the days begin to get longer again. The light, although soft and wintery, can reach down and energise them, giving them the opportunity to store some sugars to survive the long haul of summer in shade.
